Alastair Savage is originally from Ayrshire and has performed traditional and classical music throughout his life. He was winner of the ‘Land O’ Burns’ Scots fiddle competition in his youth and has since then studied classical violin at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire) and at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

He has been a member of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra since 1997 with whom he has toured Japan, China, USA, South America and throughout Europe as well as touring extensively as part of the acclaimed Scottish Ensemble.

As soloist he has performed on BBC Radio 3, Radio Scotland, on national radio in the USA and has made 5 critically acclaimed albums of fiddle music featuring the great Scots fiddle composers of centuries past alongside his own unique compositions.

As a composer his music has been used by BBC Alba for documentary purposes and as a session musician he has worked with many top artists crossing different musical genres, including Belle and Sebastian, Karen Matheson, Justin Currie and Ricky Ross. Other folk music projects include working with the Grit Orchestra and the legendary Scottish band ‘The Whistlebinkies’.

Alice Allen grew up in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, developing her playing both as a traditional and classical performer. She attended Natalie Haas' Scottish music camps on the Isle of Skye whilst also graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music followed by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she is now tutor of Scottish traditional cello.

Alice is a former young artist in residence with the Scottish Ensemble, she has also performed on BBC Radio 3 and Radio Scotland and recorded with many leading folk artists including former BBC young traditional musician of the year Robyn Stapleton.

Her playing has taken her throughout Europe and India and she has worked with many of the country’s leading performing groups including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Concerto Calendonia, London Concertante and the Brodick Quartet.

Alice also plays with the duo GAIA, Chamber Music Scotland's ensemble in residence 2019-21, alongside violinist Katrina Lee.
